Here's a list of some of the books I've read!
A Prayer for Owen Meany -- John Irving
pretty good so far (not finished yet)
--The books underneath this do not follow a specific order of completion.--
Wuthering Heights -- Emily Brontë
(DID NOT FINISH) I didn't finish this one.. I thought it was kinda boring.
The Outsiders -- S.E. Hinton
I don't remember much from the book, the movie was pretty good though. Very sad at the end though.
Catcher in The Rye -- J.D. Salinger
I really liked this book!! Even though people say Holden is a spoiled brat (which he is) i still find it enjoyable and interesting!
Scythe -- Neal Shusterman
This was the start of my Neal Shusterman bender, the librarian at my middle school picked it out for me and I really really enjoyed it. It's probably my favorite dystopian novel/series. It has a very creative concept.
Thunderhead -- Neal Shusterman
This is the second book in the Scythe series. This one was very cool!! It focused more on the all knowing (i guess AI) that everyone relied on! It also includes the other Scythe aspects such as the Citra and Rowan plots.
The Toll -- Neal Shusterman
A lot of people didn't really like this one. BUT I DID!! I liked this one a lot! It introduced new characters and I really enjoyed them!! It also had a very cool ending!!
Dry -- Neal Shusterman
This book's about a drought in California! I enjoyed it a lot. It was sort of post-apocalyptic but in a more realistic way. It focuses on three neighborhood kids and a slightly older teenager trying to survive in the collapsing society in need of water.
Roxy -- Neal Shusterman and Jarrod Shusterman
This book is very very beautiful. It focuses on drugs/medications that are represented in a human form. The main story focuses on Ivy and Issac who both struggle with their own addictions.
It's Kind of a Funny Story -- Ned Vizzini
This was a okay ish book I guess. I liked some parts but it was also a little weird how the author would include this weird piss thing the main character had. It's also very weird that I've known several other people who have also read this same book.
Everlost -- Neal Shusterman
This book was very magical and mystical. It starts when two teenagers die!! But instead of going to Heaven (or hell) they get stuck in this limbo known as the Everlost. They have to traverse the world and all of the new conflicts!
Everwild -- Neal Shusterman
This is the second book in the series. Don't remember much but it was good from what I remember. It focuses on the two kids exploring on their own. (two different plot lines) oh yeah and also each kid has a new skill that allows them to do cool things in the world.
Everfound -- Neal Shusterman
The last book in the series! It focuses on the two kids coming back together to try and take down the greater evil that is trying to keep the kids inside the everlost world!
As Far as You'll Take Me -- Phil Stamper
I'm not that big into romance novels, however, this one was pretty good. My mom picked it out for me in the book store because I needed a book about a journey. This book was very good. It made me blush many times, im not gay though but damn it got hot in there. Definitely a doomed Yaoi novel though..
Unwind -- Neal Shusterman
Another dystopian, except this time it involves corrupt governments trying to take children body parts to fix other people!!
Unwholly -- Neal Shusterman
Can't remember what happened in this one! Sorry! I think I read the third one so maybe this one was good.
UnSouled -- Neal Shusterman
If I couldn't remember the second one I definitely do not remember this one. (i read this in 9th grade cut me some slack)
The House on Mango Street -- Sandra Cisneros
I liked this book! It was very sweet and it was interesting to see all of the people around this girl through her eyes.
The Odyssey -- Homer
This is a cool tale. I like how it portrays the Hero's Journey which sets up a lot of other stories.
Fahrenheit 451 -- Ray Bradbury
This was a very cool book. It's probably one of the more known dystopian novels. I remember reading it and being very fascinated about how much of the technology actually became a thing that we have today.
Lord of the Flies -- William Golding
This book was crazy. We read this in 10th grade English 2 Honors. I remember it because I think it was the first school book that involved the multiple deaths of children in violent ways. It was very scary, in a way, to see how people would turn on each other without anybody to tell them what to do.
Peak -- Roland Smith
This book was read to us in elementary school. I think a read it a while after that initial reading. It's a story about a boy who climbs for fun. His teacher wants him to write in his journal about anything. He's invited to summit Mt. Everest and to be the first 13? maybe 14? year old to summit the mountain.
Storm in Paradise Valley -- Charles G. West
I saw this book in a dollar general near my house. It looked interesting so my mom bought it for me. It was very interesting!! It involves like everything a wild west novel should have! Bandits! Towns! Shootings! Wrangling Cattle! Saloons! Horses! and a lot more!! Storm is the main character, and he just want's to settle down in the small town of Paradise. Unfortunately, a group of bandits take over the town! Storm however, is a retired (police? type of guy? i forgot his exact profession) and he initiates a fight with the bandits!
(some murder mystery story, the one about the treehouse?) --
This was also like one of the small little books that probably don't cost a lot or get a lot of attention. However, you can definitely tell the author knew how to write a mystery novel! I thought it was very interesting and it had a very cozy atmosphere despite being about a murder.
Gleanings -- Neal Shusterman
This is sort of a spin off of the Scythe Series. It's basically just a bunch of short stories that take place within the universe. Some of them are very interesting but also some of them are just a little whater story. It was still very good!! I enjoyed it a lot.
House of Leaves -- Mark Z. Danielewski
REALLY GOOD!!! REALLY GOOD!! This book was really good!! I'll sound like a poser but I found out about this book from that one Doom map like everyone else did. But damn!! THIS BOOK IS CRAZY!!! it's probably the longest book I've read but every moment is incredibly intriguing. Basically, it's a story within a story. The story focuses on Johnny who finds a manuscript of a film that doesn't exist! The film talks about a house that is bigger on the inside than on the outside!
Treasure Island -- Robert Louis Stevenson
My dad bought me this book! I really liked it. I think it sort of sparked my love for pirates! It has a lot of charm and it's a great adventure!
The Midnight Club -- Christopher Pike
This book was kinda cool, it's basically a book about stories. The characters telling the stories are destined to die though. That's why they're in the home for dying people? I think that's what it was called.
Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead -- Tom Stoppard
This is a play! It's sort of a spin off from Hamlet, however it's more abstract and surreal. It focuses on two side characters briefly mentioned in Hamlet who are fated to die. They meet some wild characters whilst also being wild characters themselves! It's a very fun little play.
Romeo and Juliet -- William Shakespeare
We were forced to read this. Shakespeares kinda cool I guess.. I'd like it better if I didn't have to piece together what he was trying to say all the time but whatever. Romeo and Juliet isn't my favorite but it's still up there.
Julius Caesar -- William Shakespeare
I liked this one!! I thought it was very poetic when Julius Caesar said his famous line: "Et tu Brute?" absolutely beautiful. I like Brutus and that one guy that was friends with Julius, who wanted to avenge him. What a real one.
Our Town -- Thornton Wilder
Oh my god. This play was amazing. We read this in highschool, AP Literature class. I read this in a group with two other people, Maria and Colleen. At first it seems like it's just a play about regular small town Americana. Nearing the end it delves into much more deeper topics. *SPOILER ALERT* ------------ The end is actually incredible to me. The fact that Rebecca Gibbs' mother sacraficed her own dreams and aspirations for her children was very heartbreaking and revealed a big part of people's lives and the sacrafices they have to make. Death in this play was also incredibly heartbreaking. In the afterlife the characters were given the chance to go back to one day in their life, each of them do it, but we actually get to see Rebecca's day. Maria was reading the lines for Rebecca, I forget which line it was, something about Rebecca being there in the moment and finally taking in all the small things. Well Maria was reading it and she started to cry. It made the play all the more heartbreaking and real. I would be lying if I said that me and Colleen didn't cry after hearing that as well.
Hamlet -- William Shakespeare
Hamlet was cool too-- I GUESS. I just thought a lot of these tragedies could've been avoided.
No Exit -- Jean-Paul Sartre
This play was cool. It was a very interesting conception of hell.
As I Lay Dying -- William Faulkner
I'm not gonna lie, I did not finish this book. HOWEVER, I did buy it for myself to fully read it eventually. I liked this book!! I skimmed through the ending because I was on a time crunch for class. I really liked that it was a satire on the whole Hero's Journey trope. When Jewel and his mother are on the top of the hill, that was such a real moment.
Frankenstein -- Mary Shelley
DID NOT FINISH THIS!! B-B-B-B-B-BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIINGGG!!!! Just kidding!! I mean not really! Sorry to whoever likes this book. I just couldn't get into it. Every time I tried to read it i'd just start to fall asleep. I like the gothic aspects but just the way it's written makes my mind race to other more interesting ideas.
Their Eyes were Watching God -- Zora Neale Hurston
This book was cool!! I didn't finish it-- but i want to! I think I got 2/3rds of the way through. I liked it though! I really liked the Florida aspects and all the men in the main character's life.
Heart of Darkness -- Joseph Conrad
Also didn't finish this one.. However, I thought the idea was very interesting. The plot was cool! However, it's a little racist. I like the idea of going into the jungle though! Cool exploration(and imperialism(probably not that cool..)) story!
Brave New World -- Aldous Huxley
Didn't finish this one either. Got near the end though it was nice. There were some parts that were just kinda like nothing burgers though. It's alright I guess.
The Book Thief -- Markus Zusak
I was on this book before it was popular in the highschool!! I am a trend setter!! This book was amazing, it has an abstract narrator while also having another more relatable narrator. It's set in Germany during WW2, this girl is trying to understand the things going on around her.
